Bishop's Thanksgiving Newsletter

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

At this time of year, as we prepare to celebrate our national holiday of Thanksgiving, many of us will travel great distances. We often spend a great deal of time in our cars or on airplanes or trains to visit dear friends and relatives. We gather over dinners. Though our customs may differ and the food we place on our tables may vary from place to place, we know that we have come together for one purpose: to give thanks.

There is always so much to give thanks for. We are reminded of this reality each year at this time. Because we do have a tendency to forget. But no matter who or where we are, the blessings of our lives are there in plenty. And we, as faithful members of Christ's holy church, we lift up our voices at this time and offer our thanks to God for all He has given.

Let us Pray: O most merciful Father, who hast blessed the labours of the husbandman in the returns of the fruits of the earth; We give thee humble and hearty thanks for this thy bounty; beseeching thee to continue thy loving-kindness to us, that our land may still yield her increase, to thy glory and our comfort; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your Brother in Christ,
